It’s been 4 mos, I’m getting the dry wall repaired throughout the house. How do I tackle the paint job? Should the ceiling be pained the same as the walls and should the house have one color through?

Ask a person who does drywall. You may have to put on a primer first, then paint it. Or, go to a large hardware store, and ask there, by the paint dept. They will help you too. They have knowledge and training. J.

You have to prime new drywall. I'm guessing this is a basement, so either paint everything white or a light colour like cream if you want it to be bright. Otherwise, paint just the ceiling a light colour, and choose colour for the walls. It is up to you. I have some light (office, bathroom) and some dark colours (TV family room). I tie them together with accessories. If you like colour, go for it, it is your space.

I like painting the ceiling and walls the same color, with one accent wall a shade or two darker.

The French look is painting ceiling and walls same color, with the right color it can look great and its easier than trimming it if you have two colors.

I like the ceiling one color, and the walls another. If the ceiling is low, paint it a light color and satin finish. If you have real high ceilings, you can paint darker to make them look lower.

Oh and prime everything first, you can get someone to come in a spray them all to get it done faster. You can also use a long-handled roller to make quick work of it after you cut in with a brush at the ceiling, baseboard and corners.

'New drywall always needs to be primed. I like the ceiling colour to be different from the walls or it seems you're in a box.
