How can I hang shelves over this tile without drilling into it?
I would like to install 2-3 floating shelves in front of this tile backsplash, but I really don't want to drill through the tile. I thought perhaps I could side mount them somehow - I may be crazy but I actually don't mind drilling into the cabinets or the walls on either side. I just really am terrified of cracking that beautiful tile. Is this feasible? Any suggestions for commercial brackets that I can buy, or ideas on how to make them? I know they won't be able to hold a ton of weight and that's okay; all I want to put there is a fake plant or two, maybe some soap, little things like that.

I can visualize a shelf resting on the top of the cabinet and another attached to the bottom. They could be screwed into the top and bottom of the cabinet, and screwed into the opposite wall.
You can make floating shelf brackets and screw them to the to the cabinet and side wall

I think you can add shelves that span the width of that space by anchoring one side to the wall and the other side through the cupboard. Kind of like what we did here (also in front of tile - that we didn’t put holes in): https://www.frugalfamilytimes.com/2015/10/kitchen-update-for-way-less-cash-how-to.html?m=1
cool tile btw! :)
Have you considered hanging shelves or baskets by suspended from the ceiling? You could use rope or chain, wood or metal attached to the ceiling.
Just a thought....
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
Hello,
You could use Suction fittings. I too don't like the thought of drilling into tiles, I normally drill at the point the tiles meet, and haven't had a broken tile yet!
Hi Amanda, perhaps a hanging shelf will work in that space. Here's a great tutorial that will show you how to make one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52SBQDrEjXU
Use side brackets or you could use strips of 1'" x 2" on the side of the cabinet and the wall.
Use L brackets on the cabinet and the wall that fit under the shelf to support it.
Depending on what you will be using on the shelf, would 3m strips work?
Command strips like this will work: https://amzn.to/3f4zql9
Hope this Helps! Jeremy - https://pahjodesigns.com
it all depends what you like to use on the shelves .. there is epoxy specially designed for tiles that you can use to install corner shelves but they meant to hold light items
