How can you smooth out the caulk behind bathroom sink faucets?

Look for small plastic spoons, like infant feeders, or round & smooth down the handle of a plastic iced tea spoon. This may fit into that space. If not, I hope it sparks a creative idea for you. Use a very light touch when smoothing caulk with a tool, & don't use the tool dry. A moist tool, like a moist finger, keeps it smoother. Practice. Then try to get your final finish done in one "take" to keep it smooth. Clean off the tool if you do have to lift and restart.

Or, learn to do as the pros do. Don't PULL the whole round bead of caulk as you drag the tube across the joint. Rotate the tube so the angle cut on the tip makes the smooth finish for you as you go. Don't over - caulk or you'll end up with a mess here too. This really takes practice & great largemotor control to achieve.

If you remove what you have done already, put a small bead in its place, try to smooth it out with something wet. Water should not get down behind your faucets since there is usually a rubber gasket under the fixture which generally makes a good seal. There is silicone remove on the market and probably available at your local hardware store.

if this is new, there is a tool I found at Lowe's that does a wonderful job. cheap and great too. just ask the techs in that area and they will show you the tool.
