you need a piece of drywall to patch the wall. Make sure you get the same thickness as what’s currently in place. You will need drywall tape and dry wal mud and trowel. See if you tube has a video for it.

purchase drywall mesh tape and drywall compound...if the holes are small, place the tape over the hole and using a trowel wipe the drywall compound over it (similar to smooth icing a cake) let dry...you may have to do 2-3 applications to get enough compound for a smooth surface. Sand to match the rest of the wall. If you have large holes, replace the hole with a piece of drywall, put mesh on the edges and fill the cracks with the drywall compound, (as above) sand smooth.

Hi Zevacoe, you will need a small can of Spackle, a Putty knife, Multi-grade Sandpaper and the original paint.

1st- Use the putty knife to apply

    enough spackle to fully cover

    damaged area.

Allow to dry completely per instructions on spackle can.

2nd- Use the most coarse sandpaper

first to smooth off any rough

    edges.

Use your hand to tell whether you need to sand the area more.

3rd - Use fine grade sandpaper to

finish the area. Making sure the

area is even with the rest of the

    wall.

    Paint, step back and smile☺

    I hope this helps you!

All good advice. If the hole is large and you need a piece of sheet rock to fill it, you will need to take some slats and screw them into existing wall. Then when you cut your fill piece you will have something to screw it to to keep it in place. Youtube is great for a picture is worth a thousand words.

As far as texture on your wall, you can use the spackling to mimic the texture. It may take a few tries, but just hang in there. You'll get it. Good luck.

All great tips for the repair. Bilous_2010 has the right idea for the texture. Use the spackling for the texture. Try different items to create the texture. Stipple with a brush, crumpled plastic shopping bags, stipple with a putty knife, etc.

  • There are several different kinds of texture. Some texture is just from the paint and rollers. Others are sprayed on before the paint (knock down aka spanish lace, orange peel,... etc.) You can puchase them in spray cans in your local hardware store. Start by using a spatula to level the wall and then scroll down to the bottom of this link to see who to match the texture. lisalaker.com/patching-drywall/patching-drywall
