How do I hang, tape, and mud drywall?

You would put mud on the wall in a thin layer then put tape up smooth out with putty knife then mud over that let dry till you get powder on your hands Orr wet spot is gone

Try using a self stick drywall tape and follow the directions on the package. Using the old style paper tape people usually do not add enough plaster and it doesn't hold well. Check out some YouTube videos for tips.

Check to make sure you don’t have a moisture problem in or coming from behind the drywall. If no moisture problem exists, use a wider fiberglass mesh tape with an adhesive backing. There may be a problem with the paper on the drywall not bonding with the drywall compound. The drywall could be defective or have some oil or other chemical causing this.

Throw the paper tape away. It’s only for professionals and doesn’t last long enough. I’ve done many repairs including my own house. Use the fiberglass adhesive tape. If it’s new drywall the job is easier. On existing start an end and carefully pull down the old paper. Put fiberglass tape in the old cavity mud and feather to blend.

I always wet the tape before putting it on the surface of the drywall. As I'm pulling it out of the water, I pull it thru the narrow space between my first and second fingers of the other hand, this sheds the excess water from the tape and leaves it just wet enough to grab the drywall. Bubbling occurs when the tape is not wetted down before applying mud. As the mud dries, it pulls the moisture from the tape, and the tape lifts away from the drywall. Pre-wetting the tape prevents this. If you are doing a lot of it, there is a device that holds a roll of tape and submerges it and pulls the excess water off as you pull the tape up and out. There's even a cutting edge to tear against to give you a clean edge. All you do is add water periodically. Ask where you buy your drywall supplies.
