if they are the 'command' hooks -- just pull down on the tab -- straight DOWN, not 'OUT'
If they are the old fashioned peel and stick kind of hooks, I would try by spraying window cleaner on them (keep a rag below to catch the excess) Take your time, the chemicals in the cleaner should break down the adhesive. However, if you DO damage the drywall, it is NOT that difficult to fill in with a little spackle.
Thanks for your help that are not command hooks the old fashion plastic hooks I have tried spraying with window cleaner to loosen the adhesive at the bake but no luck any other ideas folks
