It would probably be best to hire a man to install sheetrock, he will tear out the old paneling for you.
Well you can paint paneling and do it a buget ez way, if your not up to that big project, below are a few pictures of before and after that may help transform the project to and easier step⛏
Depending on how the paneling was put up makes a difference, whether it was glued or nailed. You can always fill in the gaps and paint or take it down and put up drywall, prime and paint.
