How do I tear down the wall without losing the detail?

    Before doing anything, you need to find out if it is a load bearing wall and if you would run into pipes or wiring.

    I'm thinking you mean you don't want to lose the plaster where it connects to the ceiling? If so you can just cut the opening wider and put in a beam, that would maintain all the rooms "corners"

    I agree with Nancy Turner. You need to determine whether it's a load bearing wall before doing anything. If it is, putting a beam to support the structure will lose and change the details.
