  • Why was it removed? Can you share a photo?

    • Just read other responses. What is the "excuse" from the landlord for not replacing the drywall properly and painting? How much longer is your lease? My vote is the curtain idea. Dropcloths would be perfect for this. Inexpensive, washable and you can take with you when you leave. Sorry but your landlord is short sighted and unnecessarily cheap. They are hurting themselves by possibly losing a long term tenant.

Do you mean the wall has drywall, but the drywall is bare?

No the drywall was removed and now the wall is exposed with the rest exposed so drywall can be replaced in about a year. I just want to cover to ugly wall for the term of my lease so I can use the basement for family room.

Hi Licy. Is there something that you can nail into? You could also put up a bead board or shiplap.

  • Can you put drywall back up? Why not make it a design element and paint it to match the room? Or add wall panels to cover it.

    • A staple gun yes, just a manual one is fine. Rebar is a solid steel rod, typically used in concrete walls and such but it makes a handy sturdy rod. You’d just need to find a way to hang it up.

Do you have anything to nail to at the ceiling (on the wall)? Then I would get some bed sheets or painters tarp and just nail it onto the wall. You could put some trim at the top to hide the nails but it would be a cheap, easy thing to do. You could even get some pattered sheets to be fancy. I am assuming your landlord doesn't want to put dry wall back up because he wants the wall to dry out from the leak.
