Hi Mary. You can use masonary caulk. It's easier to work with than trying to stuff a hole overhead with concrete. good luck!
Depends how big it is. If small concrete caulk will work. If big, you'll have to use concrete patch and trowel it on until filled.
Hi Mary. It really does depend on the size of the hole. If it is vey small, like 1/2 inch, you could use latex caulk and sand, and a putty knife to smooth it in, or masonry caulk. if it is larger, like 3 inches, you would need a 2 step process. You would go to a building supply, and buy a product called Weld-Crete, and coat the hole with a paint brush. put on 2 coats. be sure to put a plastic drop cloth, or garbage bag under the hole, because it will drip. (use light rubber gloves, and wrap your disposable brush inside a plastic bag, until you can re-coat in a couple of hours). Then, you will need ready mix concrete, and a coffee can and lid, and a 2' x 4' x 8 ft. stud. Mix up a small amount of the ready mix concrete, and keep it dry. (not runny). Use the putty knife or small trowel to put the mix into the hole, holding the coffee can lid up and partially covering the hole. As you fill it, slide the lid over to where it covers the hole, and stand the 2" x $' x 8 ft stud int place to hold the lid in place. Now take a hammer, and very lightly, tap on the ceiling around the lid, and the lid. Keep this very light, the idea being to "vibrate the mix, so that all air pockets will be out on the surface that will be seen. this will also cause the mix to settle and expand so that it will not fall out later. Let it dry for 24 hours, and then you can remove the stud and lid. if it has a slight dent in it, you can mix a small amount of ready mix concrete, and trowel over to smooth.
