How to repair dings and dents in aluminum siding

Mary
by Mary
My neighbor recently had his roof done and the guys doing the job weren't careful and damaged my siding. I complained and asked that they replace my siding but his excuse is they can't match the color. Does anyone know a way to fix these little dings and dents in aluminum siding? I'm hoping there's a way. PLEASE?!!!

I doubt if you can fix it but you're entitled to compensation even if you leave it as is.

the company that did your neighbors roof needs to fix your house - they are responsible fot the damage their employees did

Speak with the company's representative about their insurance for damage. Also, again approach your neighbor about his homeowner's insurance. Indeed, you are entitled to damages.

If they can't match the siding, they'll need to replace the entire side. It's unacceptable to damage someone else's house while doing work and not repair it. If you're in an HOA, you'll most likely be "dinged" for it in the next inspection round. He needs to have it repaired. I'm so sorry this happened.

Depending on the colour of the siding, it may be difficult to match. If the damaged piece can be removed, they might be able to turn it over and gently bang out the dent.

Melinda, Scottie and Judy are right. The company need to make the repairs, whatever that might entail, to restore your home to the condition it was in before they got careless.

Contact your own insurance agent and tell them what happened. Your insurance agent needs to talk to their insurance company. This is part of what you pay insurance premiums for.

contact your neighbors insurance first. if they do nothing, then contact yours. yours will charge your deductable

The neighbor will be responsible for the deductible. And as Rae pointed out, they must restore your house to its original state, at no cost whatsoever to you.

Great advice, ok it was accidental but nevertheless the Contractor should have public liability included in his insurance for such incidents. If he cannot match the siding, he will have to replace and make good the whole side to the standard it was before he damaged it, only fair. Good luck Mary.

Hi Mary, hope this helps you out.

    1. Drill a Hole In It. Drill a small hole in the center of the dent. ...
    2. Insert a Sheet Metal Screw. Select a sheet metal screw slightly wider than the hole you've drilled.
    3. Tug The Washer.
    4. Putty the Hole.
    5. Sand the Spot.
    6. Prime and Paint the Repair.
