How can I repair sheetrock after tearing a backsplash off it?
I am a senior & a DIY'er redoing my kitchen. I removed laminate backsplash and have a mess! Some sheetrock just pulled out and the rest is covered in the adhesive used, I assume, to apply the laminate. I am going to put up a glass subway tile using an adhesive … what is the best way for me to repair this area of sheetrock? Thank you.

Probably to pull it all out and put in a fresh sheet. Prime it before installing your tile.
Get compound and a putty knife and compound the spot that the sheet rock came off keep hitting with compound try to get it flat when completely dry sand flat and smooth then do your tile .
Unfortunately damage to the sheetrock is a common result of removing backsplashes.
It will likely be easier in the long run, and there will be more of a chance of the wall having a professional looking finish, to just cut out the damaged section of sheetrock, and replace with new.
Hello, you could try to spot fix with mud, or cut and mud and prime the mess, whichever works the best for you, the only other this thing to put a very thin sheet of plywood over it, then you will have to add a molding at the top and/or sides which isn't a bad thing
Use the adhesive for new splashback to fix the problem.
