The bed, or bedroom? Cork is an excellent sound absorber. Heavy lined, full draperies and thick rugs (Flokati), additional quilted bedding, pillows with dense fibered fabric, etc. should help.

As an afterthought, why not purchase the child a "practice pad" (from a music store), which naturally muffles sound.

Is this from outside sound or keep the sound in the room?

May I suggest a noise cancelling machine like white noise machine if your trying to sleep with outside noise. This will neutralize the sounds.

    Good luck!

Hi! As the others have mentioned, soft fabrics and other materials like rugs muffle sounds. Another thought is to add insulation and thicker wallboard on the walls at issue.

Have you considered moving rather than taking a defensive position?

Anything you hang on the walls will help absorb some sound. I have seen musicians put cork panels on the wall which can also be used at a board to pin stuff on.

Invest in a good pair of ear plugs. The cheap foam type are bad for causing ear infections.

A white noise machine can help especially the type that give you many different types of noise to choose from. I live in Oregon and the sound of rain is relaxing for me.

  • You could hang curtain panels of the walls to absorb sound.
