Hi Rosie, adding fabric to the walls can provide a lot of help without making it permanent.

Probably the best way is to insulate the walls... there is sound proofing drywall or insulation available... and you could also try the "blown in" type of insulation... if you don't want to completely redo all the drywall in the office area.... Installing a door with a glass insert... will preserve the open look and provide light... and help keep out (or keep in) sound.

Use Polystyrene backed panels. The thicker the Polystyrene the more sound proofing. It will also insulate too.......

Any type of soft items in the room will help. Upholstered furniture, soft baskets, pillows, or fabric will help with decreasing the sound levels. You could even purchase quilt batting or quilted fabric (or hang a decorative quilt or bedspread on a wall to add to certain areas of the room and it will help a lot. Something as simple as drapes or cloth roman shades can also help. Get a white noise machine

I was just reading about a new Sheetrock on the market now that’s purple in color instead of white for normal Sheetrock and green for waterproof Sheetrock. This purple Sheetrock is suppose to be good for sound proofing a room! There are also companies with sound deadening material that they add to a wall to make it sound proof. But last I looked it wasn’t cheap and I doubt it’s gotten any cheaper! But it did make a nice looking room judging from the pictures I seen! Unfortunately I don’t know of any easy cheap quick fixes to make a room sound proof. I’ve heard of people using egg cartons attached to a wall, but I question if it really works or how well and it’s ugly as hell! So I ruled that one out for my own personal uses! I’d go with either of these other two materials if not both if money not a object to worry about? Should be able to find these fairly easy online if you do a search for sound proof materials and/or purple Sheetrock sound proofing. Best of luck!

I have covered foam core board in fabric for pretty sound inulation behind a tv. There are peel and stick cork tiles, or for serious insulation, foam interlocking floor tiles come in all sorts of colors now and would cover alot of space quickly. They could probably be painted or stenciled as well. If the room is big enough, and you like and indusrial vibe, pallet wall projects are cool
