Looking for a ceiling fix?

We removed walls to create an open concept kitchen- livingroom which left a mess in the ceiling. We still need to do lots of crackfilling but I am looking for an idea to highlight the middle section of the ceiling that is in the center and over the basement stairs. Thoughts? The potlight is in the center.

What about something shiplap on the ceiling? It would add a great deal of visual interest.

While I love shiplap, I’m not sure it’s your look.

Beyond that, looking at your photos, I would love to see a really fun strip-light chandelier. Your pot light is already hardwired, and apparently centered, so an electrician really isn’t necessary..

Strip light chandeliers need only that single connection.

This is just one site, but the web abounds in great lighting. All mine have been purchased online and I’ve had no problems at all.

You want this on a dimmer, obviously.

Were it my space, I’d find a great wallpaper, tile, or even shiplap to use on your stairwell to make it cohesive and finished and attractive when lit. Maybe even a nice print on the bottom wall.

I recognize this is a whole new thought, but please consider it. I think it would look great and complement your decor.

What a huge difference. How about just strips of moulding around the rectangle and paint the ceiling in it a lighter color. I also like the idea of a linear light.

Sounds like an easy idea. Thanks very much.

It has been a long time since the subject opened. Can you give me information about the latest situation?

Put a woodeen frame around it and make a Bulkhead lighting area.
