  • It could just be your fan needs cleaning or replacing.

Hello. These fans can often need some vacuuming for best function and you may also need to ask inspect your upper roof vent exit to make sure there’s no debris or bird nest in it.

I vacuum my fans in the bathroom and use a swiffer often too and it helps

  • I would clean the fan and see if that helps first, otherwise you can install a fan that is heavier duty and will clear the air better.

    Theresa,

Where does the fan exhaust out to? Does it go through a roof vent or is the vent in the soffit. Some times the flap in the roof or soffit vent gets stuck or the springs rust and break. Check those if you can do so safely. Since this is a recent event, it does not sound like your fan is undersized. A larger capacity fan will not necessarily help if not enough air (called make-up air) is being drawn in to begin with.

A dirty fan covered in dust doesn’t work efficiently. And if your exhaust fan is on the fritz, excess moisture has no where to go—which eventually will lead to mold and mildew. So here’s the plan—don’t neglect that fan. Give it a good cleaning about every six months.

Clean the fan. Check to make sure it's venting out and the exhaust pipe didn't separate from the fan. There may be an obstruction in the vent or pipe.

Check your crawl space. If you’ve had a lot of rain it could be originating there.

Maybe the fan isn’t vented to the out side .you could try leaving door cracked or putting a small fan in there with you while you shower.

Perhaps the vent outside for your fan is plugged up..

Another thing to check is the actual tubing between the fan itself and the outside vent. Sometimes people use that flexible tubing and it ends up with a bend in it. Or there is excess tubing (they didnt cut it to size but just put the whole piece in there).

Too long of a tubing run can cause moisture to build up. This is an easy fix
