Hi Darell,
I'm guessing that you have knotty pine because our home was built in that era and we had it everywhere. Murphy's Oil Soap should clean it. I've also read that Scrubbing Bubbles will work on stains, but I've never used that. You will need to use some "elbow grease" so I'd try full strength Murphy's Oil Soap first. If that doesn't work, you can always try the Scrubbing Bubbles. Wishing you the best.
Spic 'n Span and fine steel wool. Be sure to wear gloves to prevent splinters from the steel wool. Rinse well and apply a coat of clear wax. Buff. They will look new!
Here are a couple links, but they may not be exactly what you need. I am all for washing everything. Murphy's Oil Soap, vinegar and water or a bucket of water with a few drops of Dawn dish soap. Try in an out of the way place first to see what works best.
