Many times if I have small cracks in a wall or eve a ceiling I will use paintable silicone and if it’s a wall I will run a short bead on my wall close to my crack and then take a putty knife to work the silicone deep into the crack. Silicone will remain stretchy to some degree and will hide cracks very well. If your crack is still too noticeable after filling the crack you can spray a little texture from a texture spray can to help hide the crack provided your wall is textured too? Most the texture spray cans have a adjustable spray to set on a low, medium, or high spray, I recommend keeping it set on low to lightly feature the texture over the crack. In this case less is more! Too much will stick out when you paint the wall and try to spray in a random width as you work up and down the crack so your new texture won’t stick out when painting. But in many cases just filling the crack with the silicone will be enough. You can paint and let dry. If the crack shows after painting too much you can texture over paint and let dry and repaint that area too! Least I have been able to touch up areas after painting that I wasn’t happy with. I’m a perfectionist to the extreme, so I won’t quit till I‘m happy that it’s perfect!

Barbara I have a home built in 1940, every once in a while a crack will appear under the windowsill from the corner. They used cement board instead of the wallboard of today and overlayed it with what is called joint compound. What I have done is made a V shape into the crack and refilled with spackling paste/joint compound. Let it dry and paint over it. Good Luck :)
