I have seen some buzz on the internet that open cell spray foam insulation can be used for sound abatement in finished walls. This is the kind of foam where they drill a small hole in the top of the wall, insert a tube, and fill with insulation that expands. Instead of ripping out walls, there's just a small hole to patch. I would use a professional spray foam contractor for this.

How about a decorative solution? Hang a pretty rug or quilt on the wall. Or place a large piece of furniture on the common wall which will muffle their noises. Also, arrange your furniture so that your sofa or bed is not on their wall. ( Hint: they might be hearing you, too. Ooops! ha ha!) Best wishes.
