Removing old contact paper

Question

Does anyone know how I can get the tacky residue off walls and a counter from old contact paper? Please help

GooGone is excellent. I also like Sticky Out by Elmers (you'll find it with the glue, etc. in the craft section). I keep it on my sink because it removes latex paint, glue etc. from my hands without hurting my skin.

I am gratefully saying thank you, I managed to get it off but it left a tacky layer behind, why they covered the walls an counter I have no idea The counter is in fine shape an retro looking g I plan to keep it if I can. The walls? That's another story we will see after I get off all that contact paper.

Goo Gone worked best for my project as well. Then I used a good degreaser, like Mr. Clean. Good as new.

I, too, loved Goo Gone it removed sticky residue from duct tape. Little rubbing with a plastic scrubber.

Goo Be Gone--and it does not have a really awful stench to it. Sort of lemony. I use it in the classroom and it is important to me not to introduce toxic odors.

I just used a hair dryer to remove contact paper in a drawer. This is an antique piece and from what I can tell the contact paper had been in the drawer for a long time. From the advice of someone here on HomeTalk, I used a blow dryer. It worked wonderfully! It only took about 10 minutes to pull it off in one giant section. Not bits and pieces as it was starting out!
