Front porch light out. New bulbs and other lights work.

I know this sounds like a "baby" question, but I can't figure out why my front porch light is out. We checked the circuits and replaced the bulbs. All other lighting works. Do I need to call an electrician? Ugh!

Your switch may need to be replaced.

The wires to your switch may be loose. If you feel comfortable with electricity, you can shut off the main power and take off the switch cover, tighten the wires and replace the cover.

  • No such thing as a baby question. It could be that the light fixture corroded on the inside for an unknown reason and there is no electricity flowing to the bulb.

Sounds like a wiring problem. Disconnect electricity and check for a short in the wiring.

Outdoor lighting is subject to lots more moisture & corrosion... I think I've seen this-- the socket may just be too 'weathered' to provide proper contact. If you can't handle appliance repair, get a n electrician. (A skilled DIY'er can do it)

I know you said you checked the circuit breaker, but did you try pushing the ground volt button where it is plugged in? I hope this helps.

I agree! The switch may need to be replaced.
