Hi Jeanie: Here are a couple of ideas: For an easy way to hang stuff on vinyl siding, make some of these jewels! No screws, tape or command strips. Take a picture hanger, trim the hook and add a zip tie loop. To use, slip the hook under a siding lap and it locks into place.
Command Hooks, wipe the wall with isopropyl rubbing alcohol (methylated spirits) first. This will ensure your strip bonds properly with the wall. Avoid using other surface sprays or cleaning wipes, which may leave a slippery residue. Or you can drill a hole in the siding, but not when it's cold out, otherwise it will crack. Go really slow when you drill. Also, only drill where there is a stud. Use a stud finder to find them and the nails, that will react to the magnet, are usually in the centre of the stud.
Good luck
This nano tape is suppose to work wonders. https://www.amazon.com.au/Traceless-Reusable-Washable-Removable-Adhesive/dp/B07PYQSTGH
You will probably need to drill through the siding. Many light kits come with a template so it is easy to hang.
These clips may work:

You can use siding clips if you don't want to drill holes into your siding. Amazon carries them.
Hello there are siding clips that can be purchased.
Heres some examples- there are more rated as heavy duty as well.
FYI
I tried a command adhesive hook to hang something— it was unsuccessful on my vinyl siding. It was correctly weight rated but I don’t know the weather is a factor with humidity in my protected screened in porch.

Hi Jeanie, have you tried two sided tape? It is pretty strong and lights should hold just fine.
We put up solar motion sensing lights a few months ago. They came with small packet of screws for each unit.
