How do i get fairy solar lights to work?

If wrong batteries are used they will do exactly what you are describing. The first thing I would check to that the batteries you are using are solar rechargable batteries for your lights, as solar lights take special batteries.

you either need to get a larger battery or accept the length of time your lights will stay on. I have a set that usually stay on for 3 or 4 hours after the sun goes down, which is perfect for me as I have them in my chicken run and no need to go out there late at night, usually. But they will only stay on as long as the battery holds a charge, so a larger capacity battery is the only option.

Make sure the switch is turned off when the battery is charging. If you're sure that the solar panel is getting the proper sunlight and has a day to absorb the energy, then it's possible that you might have a defective panel if they are new. However, since you said you replaced the battery and they are not new, you may need to replace the solar panel or the fairy lights themselves if you can't find a replacement for the panel.

Solar batteries are different from regular rechargeable batteries. Did you check the original battery and replace the exact same number and model? Usually if you are using a battery and it stays on until it drains it is the incorrect battery for the unit.
