How do you replace switches on lamps?

I have 4 lamps that the switctches all quit working. The switches are all on the lamp, not on a switch on the lamp cord. They just turn and turn and do not turn the light on. Thank you!

You can buy replacement light sockets with switches. Easy replacement. Make sure you are turning the switch in the correct direction (clockwise).

Thank you so much. It might make sense to buy the whole replacement.

A photo would help. Are the switches clicking when turned or not? It's unusual that all the switches are not working. On some the knob threads onto the switch. Any chance the knobs are stripped. If you can remove the knob use a pair of pliers to try and turn the lights on. I have had to replace the knobs on several occasions.

Thank you for replying. They are old lamps. It didn't happen all at once but I like the lamps and don't want to part with them. The switches are clicking on 4 of them. The one that is the oldest (1940's era) does not. I bet they are stripped. Appreciate your fast and helpful response.

Have you put new light bulbs in your lamps.....had the bulbs not work on some of my stored locks lamps.

Hi Pat. I have been using them. I just unplug them when not in use. I managed to get them turned on and just left them alone so that's why I unplug them when not using . The one that I purchased at an Antique shop I could not get to come back on . I have had it for about 15 years or so. Thanks for your reply.
