How can I make a lava lamp work again?

I bought a lava lamp that had the bubble in it but when I got home with it the bubble was gone. I turned it on thinking if I heated it the bubble would start rising and falling again. It didn't. Anyone know how to repair it inexpensively?

I'm going to go out on a limb here & assume that the "bubble" you're talking about is the wax that rises & falls. It takes a long time, several hours usually, for the wax to heat up to the point that it starts moving. I'm sure the wax didn't just disappear between the store & home so that's my best guess. Just plug it in & give it more time.

I'm hoping you already have fixed the lamp. But, just in case you haven't, some of these lamps work off a bulb that heats the wax. It's possible that you just need a new bulb.
