Call an electrician. It is the surest and safest way to do it. Just make sure he is licensed. Very easy to look up online.

The way I do it is to install the outside outlet on the outside of the location of an inside outlet. To do this, open the inside outlet at the location where the new outlet is to be installed. Turn off the power to the existing outlet at the circuit breaker. Remove the existing outlet. Drill through the back of the outlet box. Be careful not to hit the wire. Install the new exterior outlet box at the hole. Pull the new wire through the wall and into the new exterior outlet box. Connect the wires inside to the existing wiring and outside to the new outlet . seal the drilled hole on both the inside box and the outside box. Put it all back together and turn the circuit breaker back on.

Makes you want to call an electrician doesn't it? The outside outlet also needs to be weatherproof. Not the same as one for indoors. And if not wired back correctly the whole circuit will not work.

Good point by Wanda regarding an exterior electrical outlet needing to be weatherproof. Even in the driest states, it will be subject to rain or garden hose water at some point.
