I may or may not have had to remove part of my pantry door molding in order to get a desk to fit to the left of the pantry. Well now it was time to finally repair it so I can get the original wood pantry doors back on!

The first thing I had to do was find the missing piece of trim. After searching through the pile, I found it!

Here is the matching trim. I can’t even remember what wall this was on, but it matched so I ran with it. I just needed to remove nails and cut it to the right size.

I used my angle grinder to remove the nails. It makes for quick work for these thick nails in comparison to a multitool, although a multitool is a great choice if you have it. Either way, make sure you wear your PPE and use the right blade (metal). Also, clamp your trim down. Two clamps was good enough to keep this trim from moving.

Measure the wall to see how long the trim should be. Then measure you trim and cut to size!

I did a very light sand afterwards to get rid of any old raised paint. I am using 120 grit sanding block.

I used my favorite wood glue, Titebond II to glue the sides of the trim that will touch the trim already in place.

For additional reinforcement, construction adhesive can be used to glue the trim to the cement.

I put it in place and used a clamp to help me hold it in place while I nailed the trim into each other. There was a strip of wood as well that I was able to nail into.

Repeat the same steps for the last missing trim.

I use my fingers to apply wood filler to the any gaps I see. I specifically like this wood filler because it can be molded into any shape you want.

Here’s a picture of it!

Next, sand everything down. Make sure to get into the crevices!

Then prime and paint. I skipped the priming part and regretted it. I had to add too many layers of paint.

And there it is! Im sure as I’m adding the doors, I’ll find little areas to touch up. But for now, I’m happy I got this task that’s been pending for months finished. In case you’re wondering, I’ll be staining the original wood doors walnut on my Instagram this week. I can’t wait!

Here is a close up of the area!
