Attaching a wooden headboard to a bed frame

I have a vintage wooden headboard...the kind that came with rails with a piece of metal that entered the base of the legs in a vertical opening. I can no longer find replacement rails any where..I don't want to mount the headboard to the wall. Can any one suggest an easy way for me to attach my wooden headboard to a current metal bead frame without having to damage the vintage headboard?

Amazon sells adapters to hook bolt-on bed frames to hook-on headboards. http://www.amazon.com/Conversion-Adapter-Bolt-On-Hook-On-Headboard/dp/B004NXK0UK For that matter, if you want to make side rails you can buy the hardware: http://www.amazon.com/Rockler-Bed-Rail-Hooks/dp/B001DT3SBK Or Rockler Hardware sells all kinds that are simple to use. These bolt onto the rail, but then hook into the headboard. http://www.rockler.com/heavy-duty-wrought-steel-bed-rail-fasteners-4-pack-select-size

All my metal bed frames have a hook on one end that slips into the vertical slot on the headboard.
