LOL! I have a cracked door also! The options I've come up with are that I can replace the door (yuck - I hate them!)

Measure the space available between the doors as they bypass to see if I can make something that looks like a barn door using luan as it's so thin. I just don't think it's worth the effort of this project though.

My own plan is to put peel and stick wallpaper over the mirror. In your case with the shattering, I would put smooth tape over it or contact paper just for safety so the glass doesn't crumble and cut through.

We have these kind of doors in our living room too, and i hate them.

To remove the broken mirror, cover it with contact paper, carefully smoothing it all over so shards will not fly everywhere, have a drop cloth underneath also, just to be prepared. Wear safety gloves and glasses.

Remove the door from the tracks and unscrew the side panels on the door frame. This will allow you to lift the broken glass from the body of the door. Make sure to take exact measurements, as you will want to new panel to fit snugly in the body. Keep in mind you may have to order the new panel in advance. However, there are some home stores that are able to cut panels to specifications with no more notice than an hour or so.

You can also replace the broken panel with a solid non-glass panel. Take careful measurements, remember...measure twice, cut once.

    Hello there,

I too had cracked mirrored doors, but mine were hinged doors. I have removed the mirrors and replaced it with an external trim and a wallpaper insert to match in with room decoration. If the mirror is stuck to the doors (mine weren't) You could make a feature of the cracks by following the crack lines with a gel pen or you could stick other mirror tiles over them maybe!

    Hope that helps a bit!

  • You will need to replace the mirror. You don't want pieces fall off or edges cutting anyone.

Hello. Looks like a safety issues that the mirror needs to be removed. Placing a custom cut thin wood paneling sheet inside might be an option if that would be aesthetically pleasing to you.

Cracked mirrors on doors either need to be taken off and replaced or take off and replace with grass cloth, contact paper, or just prime and paint.

If you try to replace it, or pull it off, it’s going to come off in pieces as it glued quite well to the door. That would be a possibly dangerous mess.

Put an ISO (In Search Of) on Craigslist and all the other For Sale on-line groups and try to get a used door for cheap.

Make sure you take the hardware off of that door to put on the replacement door.

In the interim, I’d put wide tape on the broken areas, to keep any shards from falling out.

    Hello,

You can't fix it so it doesn't show, so do a "Japanese fix" Use a tile filler or other filler to fill the cracks and secure them. Maybe an Adhesive. Then when dry make a feature of them by Painting them with Silver/Gold or Bronze Paint. Make a Work of ART!
