You may have to turn the couch over and open up the fabric on the bottom. It will have either slats or springs. This is where you do your fixing. Replace the fabric by stapling it back.
Can this couch be refilled with new foam or what ever filling is in the cushions? Does it have zippers to remove the filling? If so then you may want to do that.
If it is springs you may have to tighten them up with pliers. Sometimes they come undone or stretch. You may have to get someone to help you with this project. If the spring has broken and not making contact try to use a piece of wire to connect the spring to the frame. All the Best!

A quick fix is to put a board under the cushions. I have done this successfully with an old couch.
