How do you get wood colored paper off cabinets? And then what do I do

As you can see the paper is peeling due to repeated cleaning. Can’t afford new cabinets.

    It’s very thin veneer paper I think. An older mobile home. Not real veneer but not contact paper. There’s pressed wood under it. :(

    Sand or remove any flakes of the paper, Clean the cabinets, Use a good stain blocking primer then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats of a water based polyurethane. Use a foam roller and foam brush to get a smooth finish.

    You may need heat to remove or loosen the rest of the veneer/paper. I don't think there will be a lot of the residue, but, you should be able to sand it off. As William told you, a primer, then a good paint and poly.
