Johnchip on Nov 02, 2016If it 'scratches easily', it will always scratch again, easily. Keep using cutitng boards or replace with a more durable surface.Helpful Reply

William on Nov 02, 2016Formica will always scratch. It's composed of several layers of kraft paper impregnated with a thermosetting resin and topped with a decorative layer, then compressed and cured with heat to make a hard, durable surface. There is nothing that can be done to prevent it. Cutting boards are the only solution until you choose to change it.Helpful Reply

Linda on Nov 03, 2016We use a bit of diluted bleach/ a.k.a. Clorox cleanup and dilute even that... to remove scratches made from metal pans, etc. Usually works within a few seconds. Rinse. Anything with a gouge will not clean up in the same way. (And by the way, w're stuck with white formica .. a 60's or so leftover.)Helpful Reply

Susan Bechamp on Nov 04, 2016Protecting a "delicate" work surface with acrylic is a start. Be sure to use cutting boards every time you pull out a knife. Keep trivets handy near the sink and stove for hot pots and pans too. You can't bleach away a burnt counter top.Helpful Reply
