Hi Melinda,
What is broken? Can you share a picture so we can see what you are seeing?
Here is a link for major damage:
If you have a charming wood piece, but a major eyesore is detracting from its overall look, it's time to break out the Bondo all purpose filler! Bondo is an alternative to normal wood fillers preferred by many furniture restorers on Hometalk. Mix up your Bondo, apply to the uneven, damaged section, then sand smooth. After, you can repaint the whole piece for an even look.

If it's the brace underneath, that will have to be glued and reattached - possibly with screws. Otherwise, you may be able to reattach the top to the bracing using the same method.

Take the broken part and a similar undamaged part to the millwork or woodworking shop for duplication. Carefully clean the old adhesive from the joints. Then reassemble the chair with the new part, gluing each joint. Clamp the chair with strap clamps until the adhesive dries, and then refinish the chair completely.
Hi! It really depends on what is broken and how damaged it is. Do you have any pictures?
