I have pinkish stains on my fiberglass tub. I think they are iron stains. I have tried everything and it will not come out . Is there some treatment that would hide the
stains?

Fiberglass tubs are finished with a gel coat to seal the color and substrate. There is nothing available retail to finish fiberglass. The tub and tile kits available are for porcelain and ceramic. The iron stains probably penetrated the gel coat finish.

We had two fiberglass tub/shower units recoated by a company called Miracle Method several years ago and it is holding up great. Look online for a franchise near you.

I have been researching this issue because i also have a fiberglass tub and shower. Both Lowes and Home Depot carry kits to refinish fiberglass.

The pros clean it with a product called bio clean at janitor supply stores. Cleans water spots off glass shower doors too.

There is a product called Whink. If you live in an area where people have wells and/or hard water, the hardware stores will have it. You should use it only on white, but it works when nothing else will.

The dollar store sells a product called The Works. I have used it for a long time and I have dealt with iron for over 30 years. Make sure that no matter what you use, you clean off your fixtures fast. Anything that takes iron off is caustic and will ruin faucets, voice of experience. Before trying a chemical, try the magic sponges, 2 to a box at dollar store. I use these a lot and they have removes stains that chemicals would not remove. Not good on wood finishes though. When using the sponges, no need to use a lot of pressure on them, the micro fiber does the work for you.

Don't try anything abrasive. That will ruin it. Might try Mr. Clean scrubbie pads, they are white. Wet tub and try one of those. If you know who made the tub, call them for help. Try barkeeper's friend, at WalMart, etc. Or Whink, see if that helps. Do you have well or hard water. If you can get it clean, you might try a water softener. That helps everything. We have had one since 96 and we would not do without it. Cleaner clothes, 1/3 of the soap, fixtures last forever(almost). I would call the manufacturer first before doing anything. They made it they would know how to care for it.

I had the same thing on my tub and I used barkeeper friend to clean it with a mister clean eraser it helped in the cleaning. I use it because we need to replace our pluming its the galvanized pluming pipes that cause it in my house. I hope this helps. Teresa https://www.barkeepersfriend.com/

Fiberglass is known for bleeding , what you are looking at is cobalt, no matter what you use to remove the stains & fading they will come back, if you look closely & feel the center / top of where the stain starts you will find a small hole & possibly a blister, at any rate you can mix a 50 / 50 solution of muratic acid & water [ pour the acid into the water being careful not to splash, the stains will come off easy, don't use any more than necessary then dilute with plenty od water & baking soda , use wet or dry sandpaper 220 grit to roughen up the surface & apply marine varnish via spray , should you desire a color it can be added when mixing , you can buy marine varnish at your local home depot or lowes
