Is there a wax you can use to smooth out a rough barn board table top?

It is not unfinI shed, it is deliberately designed this way. Cool looking in the store, but in reality stuff gets snagged and crumbs go down in divots.

I would vacuum and use a toothbrush to brush out holes and then pour a coat of epoxy resin...this will level the top by filling cracks, holes.dents....the table top will look like glass....suggest you watch yoube.com videos on pouring epoxy...it's not hard to do

I have a similar table (old Mexican door turned table). Mine is REALLY rough with cracks and holes and splits. The only thing I have thought is glass or plexiglass. In the end I just use it as a library table. I have used it for the occasional family dinner but, sometimes things are what they are, and once I quit trying to make it something else I enjoy it more! It has been a beautiful display area, Christmas tree table, buffet....Enjoy.

I would also just have a piece of glass cut to fit the top. Enjoy it's beauty, save your clothing, hands, arms etc.

A crocheted or lace tablecloth might do the job, and table legs and chairs, if any, would give a view of the wood finish. After that, I'd go with a glass top. Best wishes.

Place a piece of glass cut to fit, to hold it in place use suction cups.

Measure the table top and have a piece of glass cut to fit. Even a tablecloth won't smooth out the rough surface nearly as well as a piece of glass.

My answer would be to pur a Toughened Glass or Plexiglass or clear Resin on it!
