Help what? Any finish can be removed and a new finish applied. If you could be a bit more specific we could be more help.
It can be padded and upholstered. Tufted or smooth and trimed with nail heads. It could be painted a new color. Check pinterest for headboard upcycle ideas. Hope this helps.
remove the existing lacquer and paint it
You can lightly sand the headboard, Make sure you use fine sandpaper. Clean and let dry, then spray paint with the color of your choice.
