Sort of. You can use a jig saw and cut them away BUT you will have a piece of the shelf left against each wall. If you are comfortable using a saber saw you can get closer to the edges, and you will be sawing thru staples that are holding the shelf in a groove. Most likely you will not be able to reuse the shelf, If your cabinets are not complete open you may not be able to get a shelf length piece of wood into the cabinet to be the new shelf. If your doors are seperated in the center by a standard you can add vertical pieces of wood behind the standard and on the back wall with cleats on each end, then use two pieces of wood to make the new shelf.
I have a deep pantry with slide out shelves. Only problem is they are deeper than my arms are long and a lot of space is wasted . Could I install another shelf above each drawer glide to gain storage for shorter items?
