A picture would help us give you more info, but generally when a wooden chair isn't sturdy you can take the loose parts apart and use wood glue to reglue them. You can buy replacement spindles, but it may be hard to find the right one. Try removing the spindle and gluing it and clamping it together. Let it dry well and reglue it in place. If you search on Hometalk or on the internet under "repairing wood furniture" you'll get even more ideas. Good luck.
