If you're talking about lifted veneer, sometimes it can be glued back down. Other times it's easier to strip all of it off. If the joints are separated, you can often reglue and clamp them.

If there is fabric involved in the water damage, you might consider replacing it along with any filling.

Use a good wood glue that is interior/exterior grade and clamps to pull the wood back together. Then you can clean with TSP and paint.

An easy way to fix the finish is Restor-a-finish from Howards. You can sometimes glue down the peeling laminate.

You can use wood filler then sand it.
wood separation how? As in layer of veneer? The can be reglued. If warped wood that would be a whole different thing. Wood putty can fill cracks. You can remove all of the veneer by wetting and scraping of buy sheets of veneer to replace missing pieces.
You could sand all down then then paint or cut out part that’s ruined and put new wood .

This is the Antique Vanity that I'm in the process of refinishing. However, I've never refinished any antique furniture and I really don't want to mess it up. I've also added a picture to show how it's separating. That could just be the old stain, I'm not sure, that's why I'm reaching out to all of you who may already have experience with this type of project. Thanks in advance for any help or advice anyone can provide.
