Rick ~ going through this same scenario right now, only with a swingset. We just bought a home with a pretty sloped yard. I called a retaining wall guy. He’s putting in a very small retaining wall (2 ft tall) around the area we want the swingset in, leveling it and putting down playset gravel. It seemed like an impossible task as I’ve never done this before, but they do it in a day! Easy! We positioned the area in such a way that when our youngest is done with the swingset, we can turn that area into a patio with a pergola or fire pit or something. Best of luck!
Hi Rick; You have two choices, use a shovel and dig down to level the area and then spread sand in the area by using a wheelbarrow, shovel, & rake to level it before putting the pool in place; OR building a frame on the ground making sure the top of the frame is level all the way around it and then filling the frame with sand until it's all level by using a wheelbarrow, shovel, & rake to level it before putting the pool in place. Either way, since you don't want {or can't} use any heavy equipment, there's going to be a lot of heavy, manual labor involved. Good Luck!
