How do I stop the end of my drain gutter from leaking?

During the last rain, I noticed the end of my gutter was leaking water. How do I fix that so I don't end up with a rusted gutter?

Use butyl rubber caulk in the seam. They also have gutter caulk, but make sure it;s flexible. Some will recommend Flex Seal but it does break down over time from UV sun rays.

    Hi Debbie,

This is Linda. I've never done this, but it looks like it would be fairly easy to do. You just have to caulk where the gutters are leaking and let it dry. Here's a quick tutorial. Wishing you the best.

You can try to seal it with some exterior clear caulking. You should also check to see if the drainage hole at the end of the gutter is clogged up with mucky debris that slows down the drainage causing the water to flow over the end of the gutter. I have screens on my rain gutters but I still need to clean them once or twice a year because you will get pine needles, leaf stems, small leaves, and tree seeds that will go through the holes in a screen system and disintegrate into black slimy muck that all flows to the end of the gutters where the drainage hole is.

    Try a good exterior caulk.
