Review: Cement blocks disintegrate!

Maggie
by Maggie
I love the camper conversion, but cement blocks disintegrate & crash! Cement blocks with the holes in them disintegrate with the weight. We experienced this siting inside enjoying our dinner when the blocks all crumbled at the same time.. terrible crash but no damage. Have used wood blocks ever since. 2 x4 x12 stacked and screwed together to the correct height. Can staple on strong handles of leather or rope for easy removal.

Did you have the blocks lying on their side or with the hole up?

The cement blocks of today are a lot lighter weight than the old style of the pre-80's..............Many many houses used those old style for the foundations of their houses.

Great tip! Moisture, weather, and temperature changes will disintegrate them.

Yea, I can see it in our freeze and thaw climates. Robert just put a couple of solid blocks on the opposite side of our concrete steps up to the side of the house to create steps from the garage, etc. I was planning this using different blocks, so I'm glad he took the initiative to pick some up that were solid (wrong color, but hey).

I kind of have to smile thinking of you taking a bite and...CamperQuake!!! Hehee! Glad it all turned out ok and we can all learn something from your experience.

You could get the block and fill them with more concrete. When set they will be heavier and stronger...
