The first step in repairing those cracks is to remove any debris or vegetation that you may have already in the crack. Get that out of the way, take a screwdriver and groove out the crack a little bit, and then blast that debris away using a leaf blower. It works great. Then break out a good quality crack filler, and fill in every crack you can find, and you may have to put a couple coats on in order to completely surface all of the cracks out. After everything’s dried, put on a complete coat of asphalt sealer, two coats if you want it to last a long time.

pros use a small machine that has chunks of tar put in, and melts, it comes out the bottom with a "spreader". First they use a power chisel to 'square' the crack, and blow or high pressure wash out any debris. Will last a few years. We had a large asphalt parking lot for 20 years at our business, and this had to be done every couple years. NOTHING is permanent for this type of crack. I tried cleaning the crack with a high pressure washer, letting in dry, then using the liquid in a gallon jug. Works ok, but not near as effective as the real tar.
