First start in any corner
Make a cut about 2" in from the edge.
Than make another cut going down to the first cut on the first curve.
This what it should look like. Now slip your piece behind the skirting an extra pair of hands will help alot since the J molding comes in and screw in skirting just under the J edge the screw should be about a foot apart going all the way until you need to put your next piece in.
When you have to connect 2 pieces together you have to make several cut to the end of your next piece before you slip it behind the skirting. The first cut is on the tip of the J make a diagonal cut.
The second cut is on the inside edge where the metal or vinyl J mold curls under the tip of the J you need to remove that little sliver only about 1/2" worth
Third and fourth cut need to be made on the two curves of the J mold and it needs to be a V cut.
and the last cut is to the edge that you slip behind the skirting also cut that at a diagonal about an inch. Now slip your new piece behind the skirting and and slip the cut edge inside the old edge of your previous piece.
Like this
Now screw the skirting and the J mold into the side of your home.
When you have to make a corner cut you come in about an inch to inch and a half from the edge.
Than cut down and remove that small piece from the molding now slip that piece behind your skirting and screw it in place
Your vinyl piece should slip inside the corner edge of your previous piece now just cut of the extra thats hanging off the edge flush to the new piece. See that wasn't so hard now was it. Come and visit us and like us if you like how we are cleaning up an old trailer hood
