How can I keep water pipes from freezing in a double-wide trailer?
Our hot water closet is accessed from the outside through a door. We filled the closet with insulation and tape plastic over the door. It still freezes sometimes. Is there any way to make a permanent insulated cover for the door that can easily be removed in summer?

Is old-fashioned heat tape a possibility? That's what my Dad used for years in good, old Maine winters
We've tried that in years past and it just never lasted long enough. Also, my husband feels that heat tape is dangerous. I'd like to find a solution for covering that outside door that's more simple and easier to place and remove.
You should be able to make a wood frame that fits into your opening and insulate it on the inside of the frame. You could use strong magnets to hold it in place so it just pops in and out. I would insulate the floor as well as the cold will come up from underneath. I would still consider heat tapes. They are made safer now than in the past.
noodles
Thanks very much, Gk. I will definitely talk to my husband about this. The idea of magnets is great because we have steel siding.
Kas7068569, I don't know what you mean by noodles.
Pool noodles. Usually $1 at most places like WalMart or the $$$ store. Also, you can glue a piece of bat insulation inside the door (the company that did my ceiling did this). It does not have to be removed in summer
You have some good answer .we have used the foam wrapping that looks like pool noodles. .also the heat tapes are safer now. .read up on internet. .good luck .
Thanks everyone!
