use a plumber's snake to go into the drain to see if it is stopped up or you can buy a plastic device with saw like teeth on it that pulls hair out of drains for $2 at home improvement stores

Try baking soda and vinegar. It will bubble up. Then pour a pot of boiling water down it.

Remove the drain cover (mine screws in), use a hair grabber (they are long with barbs) or a skewer (make sure you don't drop it), and if you remove the hair trapped in the drain, there won't be anything for the soap and other debris to grab onto. Then, run water through the drain. Clean the cover, and reattach. See how it drains now. If still sluggish you may need a drain cleaner and/or drain snake. I've tried the baking soda and vinegar route, but, this is what works best for me. Good luck!

Depends on how badly it is clogged, but I have found the commercial/industrial strength (safe for all pipes) Drain-O at OSH for $9 works great! It's sort of like a gel - pour half the bottle in, wait 15 minutes, then run hot water.

I agree with Cynthia, start with taking the hair out, the hair grabber she mentions is great for removing hair, which is most likely the culprit. When you get all the hair out, put in some baking soda followed by vinegar. Let it soak for about ten minutes and finish with a gallon of boiling water. This will remove the soapy greasy gunk that forms around the hair in the pipes. Always clean out the hair first or anything you try in the tub or bathroom sink won't work. The grabber only costs a couple of dollars and can be reused for a long time. The ones I have now are almost ten years old.

  • You probably have a clog of hair (most common problem). You want to look for a drain Zip-it to help pull it out. ( my Wal-Mart has them)
