From where are you trying to collect the water?
Run the sump hose into a rain barrel on the outside. If your sump pump discharges into the main drain, it will need to be disconnected and attached to a the rain barrel.
Does the water come out via a pipe or a hose? If a hose, will the water be propelled enough to be discharged into a water barrel, like William advises? If it comes out by hose, it will be easy to hook up to the rain barrel.
If a hose needs to be extended to get the water away from a build[s], then do so. Otherwise I would set up an underground rain system that will take the water away via a drain pipe that goes underground away from building[s]. One method is to direct the water via pvc pipe to a low lying area where you can also set up a mini garden that has water loving plants in it. He the drain pipe empty into a 6 or 5 gallon bucket buried in the ground that has had holes drilled into it's top & bottom...layer rocks around the area to cover the bucket[s], plant your water-loving plants in the area & add a cluster of larger rocks/boulders as an accent or add a piece of statuary.
