Bleed the pipes. Turn exterior water off at their main. Then go back and turn on each faucet till it runs dry. Here are a few few links to help you out.https://blackdiamondtoday.com/blog/prepare-outdoor-faucetshttps://www.thespruce.com/winterize-outside-faucets-2718702https://youtu.be/63WIAboJNWwHelpful Reply -

i haven't had any problems as long as the hose is disconnected. there are Styrofoam caps that can be placed over the tap, that worked great...but i couldn't find them in my area this fall so I'm trying an insulated bag device on both out side taps. i also put a foam pipe cover on the part of the pipe inside the basement. i have a lovely UN-finished basement. if your pipes have a shut off valve inside for the out side faucet, shut it off there and let it drain. house no. 2 had that option.Helpful Reply -

Yes, the water can freeze. Yes, you need to empty the hose and store the hose. Yes, you need to bleed the pipes if possible. Yes you need to wrap or cover outside faucets and exposed pipe, even the pipes in the basement. 😇Helpful Reply -

Naomie's suggestion is exactly what I do each year. Turn off the outside faucet, you should see it on the wall in the basement on the same wall the outside spigot is on. After you do this, turn the faucet on and let it drain. It is no guarantee that the pipe won't freeze, but I have only had that happen once over the years.Helpful Reply -
