It depends on how long you'll be gone and what your climate is. Do you trust your neighbors? We live in a dry climate, a trip away during the hot summer would kill our yard. We have our neighbors keep an eye on our watering and leave it on. If something doesn't look right they can get into our house and turn off our sprinkler system.
Open the tap on the basement a little bit (cold water).put the hot water on vac
I don't as 2 weeks without water my yard would be toast. Put the hot water heater on vacation setting and if you have automatic sprinklers leave them on and get a family member, friend or neighbor to watch over your property while gone. I have friends that leave for a month or longer at a stretch and as long as you have someone watching the house it will be fine. If that is not an option, just turn it off but know you will lose some stuff in the process. Don't forget automatic timers for a few lights in the house too. You want the house to appear lived in while you are gone.
Best thing is to have trusted people to keep a look out. Two weeks is not very long. Turning off the water could cause air in the line, it is not hard to fix though.
Keep the water on but turn off the hot water heater. I live in a condo and drain my water heater if I am going to be gone for a month or more. it is also good for the heater to be drained now and again. If you live in a hot and humid environment you may want to leave the a/c on at a fairly high temp so the dehumidifier continues to function and you do not return home to a moldy mess.. enjoy your trip.
