How do I stop my toilet from leaking?

I tried to install hand spray in my toilet but after connecting all the parts, the toilet was leaking from under the water tank. What should I do? I tried to tighten the screw underneath but the water pump keeps moving around.

    Hi Parvinder,

I'm Linda. We've used plumbers tape in similar situations. It goes over the threaded part and blocks any minor leaks. I can't guarantee that it will work because I'm not a plumber but it did work for us. Good luck!

I agree with this. Sometimes we overtighten the connections, and it seems to leak more. I too believe the tape would help. Good luck! And kudos for doing it yourself!

Definitely need tape, it is safe for drinking water, you cut a piece that goes a little more than once around and wrap it in the thread on direction, usually clockwise. I have attached a video for you. As for it not tightening, you may need a second pair of hands to hold it in place while you tighten

I was going to suggest you try the plumbers tape on all connections also. It really does work and helps prevent leaks with installation. Try it, see if it fixes the drips!

    Spray on FlexSeal clear.

Is it only the feed line that leaks? If so, most supply stores have a flexible hose that will usually stop the hard line leak. If it is the main tank between the bottom and tank, tighten the large screw/nuts in the bottom of the tank! Use wrench underneath to back up the nuts. If this don't help, replace the seal where the screws are holding under the main flapper. Good luck.
